Documenting our villages' past

Updated: Jan 10, 2020

Very little had been documented about the history of the area until one resident took it upon herself to research and collect information. Mrs Catharine Goodwin has spent over a year looking into every source available and has compiled a unique record of the villages' history. From the archives in Maidstone, Canterbury and London, she has found photographs, maps, births, marriages and deaths and has compiled them into a remarkable account of life in these two villages over 1000 years.

Here at the society we're very pleased to announce the publication of Cathy's hard work and research and we're looking forward to the launch date on Saturday 25 January at the Drum Inn, Stanford TN25 6DN. Cathy will be there to personally sign copies from 2-5pm and residents and those interested in the villages and local history are welcome to join and can be registered at the launch. Membership of the Society cost £5:00 per year or £8.00 for couple.

We welcome you to the launch and future events planned by the Society.
