Stanford History launched!

The Stanford History committee was very pleased to start the year with establishing the Stanford and Westenhanger History Society followed by the launch of Catharine Goodwin's detailed study of the historical life of our villages

The Drum Inn, such a long-standing and well-loved centre of the community, kindly hosted the launch on 25 January 2020 with a cosy hubbub of visitors and villagers who all came to purchase their copies. Cathy was on hand to personally sign the book and to talk about the various places and people that have contributed to its pages.

Copies flew out the door and have also sold briskly to those who were unable to come on the day. Social media has spread the word and many people have contacted Cathy who once lived here and have fond memories of their time living in this lovely place. If you haven't received a copy yet and are interested in buying the book for yourself, please send us a message via the contact page and we'll be able to get one to you.

We were also able to advertise our first event of what promises to be a varied and interesting calendar of talks and other activities on behalf of the Stanford and Westenhanger History Society.
